Winter Activities In Utah

I don’t think it is a secret that Utah is well known for its variety of activities, during any season. Winter gives us all the snow activities that no person can say no to! Here are our top activities you must do this winter!

Utah’s slogan is quite literally, “the best snow on earth.” Utah is home to 10 (and then some) world class ski resorts. In fact, 2002 the winter Olympics were held in Park City Utah.

The closest skiing we have to us is Beaver Mountain in Logan Canyon. https://www.skithebeav.com/. It’s about a 1 hour drive (54 miles). Their season starts mid December (weather permitting). Also, don’t worry! Going down those slopes will get you hungry, they have a grill on site with great food!

If you aren’t much of a skier, Logan canyon has plenty of perfect hills for sledding and trails for snowmobiles/OHVs. You also couldn’t go wrong with snowshoeing and cross country skiing.

Beaver Creek Lodge (further down the road from the Beaver Mountain entrance) not only offers nightly stays, but winter packages that include your stay and the rental of a snowmobile. https://www.beavercreeklodge.com/

In the canyon to the south, Blacksmith Fork Canyon, one of the most amazing experiences is going to Hardware Ranch. Every year, during winter, the Utah Division of Wildlife feeds a herd of Elk. They also provide horse drawn sleighs for people to ride through the herd of elk and observe them up close. It’s a very fun and amazing experience!

Down for a mini road trip? A must see is the Midway Ice Castles! Every winter season, artists from around put together thousands of icicles to create magical castles, sculptures and playgrounds that shine bright in front of a rainbow of LED lights.
